Now, don't get me wrong, I have fully embraced the ever-changing denim trends. In my closet hang many pairs of low rise skinnies, high-waisted cuffed trousers, white, black, purple, you name it. Ok, so I never got back on the recent acid wash or shredded wagon even though I don't usually mind embarrassing myself or offending others. I had to sit that one out.
When it comes to pants, I hunt for the right cut for my body as I unfortunately do not have the type of thighs that whisk air between them when I walk or have ever been described and "leggy," much to my chagrin. Most denim companies are fitting their jeans with the average woman in mind, so I can usually find something on trend that also emphasizes all the right parts of me.
As a lady with a little extra booty, caboose, badonk, what have you... AND a mild (alright, major) obsession with seventies' disco, I am beyond elated for wide leg pants to slowly creep their way onto runways and, in turn, retail racks.
My two favorite pairs of wide leg jeans right now are these in the darkest wash from
Paige Premium Denim, these super soft
7 For All Mankind blacks, and my
Paper Denim and Cloth whites (unfortunately hard to find right now). Yes, girls, white is a year-round color. Get yourself a good pair thick enough and with a little stretch so they hug your curves instead of exposing things that need not be exposed.
I like pairs that are slightly higher in the waist so I'll wear my top tucked in with a belt for a fun, sexy change-up from the tunic-and-legging trend dominating to date. Pair with some wooden platforms and disco-inspired jewelry, and you're good to go.
