in the wild.

I'm feeling a classic animal print clutch needs to be added to my collection. Some of my favorites here. Happy New Year!

I may have to buy myself an early Christmas present to wear on New Year's Eve. Yum.

alexa, of course.

Who What Wear's gift guides are pretty much nailing it this week. Their Individualist It Girl Alexa Chung, well, I love her, and they couldn't pick better gifts in this piece. Love the matte black Nixon watch, have the black version of the Kimchi Blue shorts (but could wear in every color), and the bike... the bike!

I'm a fan of both WWW and my girl Alexa. Come back to TV, immediately! Please and thanks.

dangling.

Woah.

Sorry for leaving you for nearly two weeks! I was tied up with moving, bestie getting married, and Thankgiving responsibilities, but that is all over now (successfully!). I'm back, people.

This is by far the coolest way I have seen of organizing jewelry, especially earings. I use wall-mounted knobs and hooks for necklaces, but earing organization has always alluded me. Considering that all of my jewelry is still in bags from the move (minus a few key pieces), I am on the hunt for something space-savvy and creative for my new walk-in closet/dressing area.

Antique printing drawers with hooks for earings?! Ummm...WANT.

mid century abode.

This would sort of rule in my new apartment. Want it bad. Although technically my building was built in the 1920s, I think something vintage inspired like this would go quite nicely.

PS: I have internet! It feels so good.

making a house a home.

Still no internet at my new place (long story) so I've been camping out at the man's house stealing his internet and whittling down the DVR recordings (three episodes of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: donezo). Moving is hard, ya'll! I'm exhausted. Not to mention I started two new jobs in the middle of it all. Yeesh.

Considering the fact that I have no seating (or tables or anything on the walls or a microwave or toaster oven) in my new place yet, expect a lot of posts on shit that I want and need for my 1920s apartment. PS, anyone know how hard it is to find an extra long shower curtain that isn't hideous??! Really hard!

I'm on a quest for furniture that a. pleases me aesthetically, b. fits in my lil studio, and c. makes my wallet happy. This nightstand almost works. Wish it were a bit cheaper. May find something in this vein at the flea market.

I'll be sharing!

ack.

Sorry to get all Cathy comic on you, but that's the only way to express how I feel at present.

Blogging on hold for a few days whilst my internet, housing sitch, acting career, survival jobs, any semblance of a social life, and financial status need some major attention from me. I promise to return with an abundance of juicy things for you.

In the meantime, enjoy this photo.

Kisses.

flouncy flouncy.

Spotted this insanely adorable Diane von Furstenberg at The Grove Saturday. Holy cuteness. It's structural and completely feminine AND flattering on a lot of body types. I rarely wear strapless dresses because, let's face it, I have tiny boobs. I'd rock the crap out of this and so would my better-endowed friends. Trust.

If only it were on serious sale! Sigh. A girl can look...

I wanna do my hair like this. Would it look as good with bangs and brown hair? Hmmm.

sparkly monday.

After a weekend full of bachelorette celebrations (all of which went off without a hitch and even better than expected!), I'm pooped. But one thing a weekend full of stylish girls can bring together is a variety of new ideas for us to add to our closets. One of my favorites of the weekend was my friend Lindsay's black sequin shorts, a MICHAEL Michael Kors version shown here.

How can this not instantly bring a party to life? So cute and festive. Maybe it'll be something I'll have to incorporate into my holiday party outfits.

skin boost.

A once-a-week mask is something I try to do religiously. Here are my tops.
The Origins Clear Improvement mask has been a staple of mine for about 12 years, no joke. I use it warmer months or when I feel like my skin needs a serious deep pore cleanse. It's pretty freaking genius, and I always have it in my bathroom cabinet. The charcoal acts as a little pore cleansing magnet. You'll freak anyone out who sees you with it on, but the after effects are worth it.

The Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Peel has natural pumpkin enzymes to gently nibble away at any dry skin and it literally leaves you feeling as fresh as the fruit in it. I prefer enzymes to really slough away any dead skin in THE MOST gentle way possible. There are a ton of products out there with natural enzymes (papaya, pineapple, etc.) so try a few that you like. This happens to be my favorite. No abrasion exfoliation. You'll want this for later in life. Let us avoid sagging jowls, shall we?

The Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask is just one that every girl should use. The celeb favorite Bliss Oxygen Facial from its New York spa comes in a bottle. What? I know. You'll love the tingly foam sensation and your skin will be glowing. That's right. Glowing. Pricey, I know. But do it. This little bottle goes a long way since the product foams once you apply it. Genius.

Get yourself some.

purrrrrr.

Want this Dries Van Noten-esque pull through faux leopard scarf. Bad. Think I'm going to head to the fabric store and make myself one. Project!

And shocker that this is part of the Mad Men for QVC collection. That show knows me so well!

Here's a Lord & Taylor version, too.

ready for my close up.

I *may* be moving into a new place soon (application acceptance in progress) which has spurned a whole lot of online furniture shopping and design blog perusing. I am just dying for a mirrored vanity table like this one where I can sit and put my face on. Vintage, glamorous, and functional. I want!

easy sequins.

I love me a sequin (to quote Rachel Zoe), but I never really feel very comfortable in them. I'm always scratching at the lining or afraid to act naturally/sit down so as not to disturb the delicately sewn things.

This sweatshirt (sweatshirt!) looks fancy and comfy at the same time. Is it possible?

Spotted on thebudgetbabe with the Elizabeth and James version, too.

On the hunt for two things at the moment: bach party and rehearsal dinner dresses for bestie's wedding, at which I am the MOH. This one's a contender for the former, the below for the latter. More ideas to come.

roomy prints.

Guys, this is what I like to look like most days (sub in brown hair for blonde, of course). Natural makeup, interesting jewelry, drapey blouse, and romantic-yet-modern no-fuss hair. That being said, can we talk for a minute about this top? I saw it in the Anthro catalog, then spotted it in the storefront window at The Grove, and said (aloud), "that right there is pretty much everything that I like." My boyfriend agreed (he knows me so well).

$128 for a printed top is a lot for little ol' frugal me so I have been on the hunt for something similar. I didn't have to look far. The Tucker for Target line is crazy good, so I popped in to my local store to see what might appear. Lo and behold, this did! Got it, wore it, can't get enough of it. $24 later, too. Good find, girl. Good find.

There are a lot of options for printed, billowy silk tops and here are a few of my favorites. Pair with higher waisted trousers, trouser shorts, or as a tunic over skinny jeans or leggings. It'll become so much a part of your favorite outfits that you might want to sleep in it.

return of the pant.

Now, don't get me wrong, I have fully embraced the ever-changing denim trends. In my closet hang many pairs of low rise skinnies, high-waisted cuffed trousers, white, black, purple, you name it. Ok, so I never got back on the recent acid wash or shredded wagon even though I don't usually mind embarrassing myself or offending others. I had to sit that one out.

When it comes to pants, I hunt for the right cut for my body as I unfortunately do not have the type of thighs that whisk air between them when I walk or have ever been described and "leggy," much to my chagrin. Most denim companies are fitting their jeans with the average woman in mind, so I can usually find something on trend that also emphasizes all the right parts of me.

As a lady with a little extra booty, caboose, badonk, what have you... AND a mild (alright, major) obsession with seventies' disco, I am beyond elated for wide leg pants to slowly creep their way onto runways and, in turn, retail racks.

My two favorite pairs of wide leg jeans right now are these in the darkest wash from Paige Premium Denim, these super soft 7 For All Mankind blacks, and my Paper Denim and Cloth whites (unfortunately hard to find right now). Yes, girls, white is a year-round color. Get yourself a good pair thick enough and with a little stretch so they hug your curves instead of exposing things that need not be exposed.

I like pairs that are slightly higher in the waist so I'll wear my top tucked in with a belt for a fun, sexy change-up from the tunic-and-legging trend dominating to date. Pair with some wooden platforms and disco-inspired jewelry, and you're good to go.

Oh, J. Crew! How I adore thee. This snuggly hoodie and those comfy casual boots. How I wish they were mine!

fall into the sweater dress.

Colder, wetter, gloomier weather has finally hit southern California. Yes, it finally feels like fall, and I am loving it. This weekend included a lot of movie watching sprinkled with naps and a visit to a pumpkin patch where we may or may not have seen the host of Project Runway and family (she's crazy gorgeous in person. yikes.).

All I want to do is wear sweater dresses. They're less constricting that a sweater and jeans, an ensemble that often makes me feel like an inchworm encased in a straight jacket, and you can still be warm while looking effortless. I like this one from BCBG right now. I think it could go pretty well with my favorite lived-in Frye boots and tights.

mmmm burritos.

I loved Chipotle from the get go and Food, Inc. made me looooohhhhhooooove it even more, as if that were even possible.

This site allows you to create your own Chipotle meal and see what it is that is actually going into your body. My go to: bol, no rice, black bean, carnitas, pico, medium salsa, lettuce, tiny splash o' sour cream. Mouth watering just thinking about it.

Love me some Chiptole anytime, anywhere.
